Uzbekistan’s population to reach 38.4m in 2050

Population of Uzbekistan will increases from 27.8 million in 2008 to 38.4 million in 2050, UNFPA said in its new report “State of World Population 2008”. The report said average population growth rate will make up 1.4% in 2005-2010.
The report said that 37% of population lives in urban area and the urban growth rate in 2005-2010 will make up 1.6%.
The UN agency said that total fertility rate made up 2.46 in 2008 and birth rate with skilled attendance made up 100%. Infant mortality rate was 55 per 1,000 births. Maternal mortality rate in the country was 24.
Life expectancy in Uzbekistan is 64.1 for males and 70.5 for females.
UNFPA’s report noted that access to improved drinking water sources in Uzbekistan made up 82%.
GNI per capita adjusted by Purchasing power parity (PPP) in Uzbekistan was US$2,190 in 2006, the report said.
