The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on introduction of new samples of national driving licenses and certificate of registration of automobile transport” on 2 March 2017.

The document was adopted in order to ensure compliance of national driving licenses to recommendation of the Convention on road traffic (Vienna, 8 November 1968), effective organization of introduction of modern information-communication technologies to the system of registration and accounting national driving licenses and certificates of the registration of automobile transports.

The resolution approved new samples of national driving licenses and certificate of registration of automobile transport, as well as coupon on undergoing technical inspection of the automobile transport.

The document said that new driving licenses will be issued from 1 October 2017 during registration of driving licenses and certificate of registration of automobile transport during registration or re-registration of the automobile.

National driving licenses of new sample will be issued for ten years from the day of issue.

According to the resolution, current driving licenses will be replaced to new ones from 1 October 2017 to 31 December 2018 on voluntary bases.

From 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2020, the drivers should obtain new driving licenses on mandatory bases.

Replacement of the certificate of registration of automobile transport will be conducted stage-by-stage during 2017-2020 during undergoing mandatory technical inspection of the vehicles.

The resolution said that old samples of driving licenses and certificate of registration of automobile transport will be considered as invalid from 1 January 2021.

According to the resolution, the national driving licenses will be produced from plastic and have the size of 54x86 mm. The color of the driving licenses will be pink. The state language with Latin letters will be used. The serial number will consist of two letters and six numbers

The driving licenses will have several levels of protection.
