Chinese-made powder milk is not sold in markets of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, state-run newspaper Pravda Vostoka reported quoting the healthcare official.
"There is no Chinese-made powder milk at our markets, and cases of detecting products containing melamine have not been logged. Milk products sold at our markets, including infant formula, are produced locally and in Russia," Dosymbet Uryzmbetov, the chief sanitary doctor of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, has said.
All foodstuffs imported into the country, are subject to compulsory check, and if they lack accompanying documents, they are destroyed.
The epidemiological situation in the region is calm. Cases of foot-and-mouth and anthrax diseases have not been logged in the region. Cases of typhoid, paratyphoid, diphtheria, whooping cough, hepatitis E and D, Q fever and other dangerous infections were not logged either.
The report said livestock workers in the region will be vaccinated against anthrax.
