Cabinet of Ministers
A total of 14 senior officials from Uzbekistan are currently studying public administrative reform toward good governance at the National Institute of Administration of Indonesia (LAN) here from 21 to 27 October 2008, ANTARA news agency reported.
"We are happy because Uzbek senior officials want to study with us," LAN chief Asmawi Rewansyah said on Tuesday after opening the programme.
He said the officials from Indonesia and Uzbekistan in the programme would exchange experience.
According to Asmawi, a number of Uzbek officials had in the past studied in a similar programme in Indonesia and were satisfied about the programme.
"Therefore, they have sent more people to Indonesia to be trained at LAN," Asmawi said, adding that the programme was financed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) but they asked that it be conducted in Indonesia.
However, Asmawi said it was rather difficult to find instructors who were able to provide the Uzbek officials with the materials in the training programme.
But according to informed sources, the materials in the programme would also be delivered by other academicians and experts from Indonesia.
On the occasion Asmawi said the presence of Uzbek senior officials at LAN was important becuase it improved the relations between the two countries.
