SCO to send observers to presidential elections in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20-24 September 2016, Beijing hosted a regular meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Representatives of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekiatan attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the SCO member states adopted decision to send SCO observers to the presidential elections in Uzbekistan, scheduled for 4 December 2016.

The SCO mission will observe elections and make assessment on its compliance with national legislations, international agreements and liabilities of hosting state.

Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan sent invitation letters to several international organizations to observe presidential elections in the country.
