Four parties receive permission to take part in presidential elections

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Central Election Commission adopted decision on allowing four parties of Uzbekistan to participate in presidential elections on 23 September.

The decision was held at the session of Central Election Commission on 23 September 2016. In line with the decision, Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish, Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP), People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Adolat.

The commission issued registration certificates and signature sheets to representatives of the Uzbek political parties.

At the session, issue of formation of territorial elections commission on presidential elections of Uzbekistan and their employees was also considered. The commission also discussed other issues as well. The resolutions were adopted on considered issues.

The commission said that the political parties now should collect signatures for support of their candidates.

According to the legislation of Uzbekistan, the parties should collect 1% of signatures of voters of Uzbekistan. The parties should collect 214,350 signatures of the voters.

The parties should collect signatures at least at 8 administrative-territorial formations. At the same time, number of signatures from one administrative-territorial formation cannot exceed 8% from total signatures.
