Economy 13/08/2008 Uzbekistan: fruit harvest increased by 15% in the first half year
The fact that the farmers were exempted from a single tax for the period of five years contributed to staring of new orchards and vineyards in the kishlaks, expanding of the old ones and increasing of yield.

This year, 2.000 of fruit-trees and grape stalks were sown in the reestablished orchards and vineyards. As a result, fruit and grape plantations significantly increased. Their total area reached almost 250.000 ha.

This activity is especially dynamic in Surhandaryinskaya oblast. Only in Altynsayskiy region, where climate is favorable for fruit and grape cultivation, 1.386 farms are working. They have already delivered 70.000 tonnes of their production. From this volume, 5.000 tonnes were accepted by the processing enterprises, 6.000 tonnes were sold at the fairs, organized in Tashkent and other cities, 46.000 tonnes- sold on the local market. 11.000 tonnes of fruits, vegetables, grapes and processed products were directed to export.

- Plenty of grapes, dried apricots, peaches, apples and other fruits on the market causes satisfaction of our nationals and gratitude from their side, - Alisher Yuldashev, the director of the subsidiary of "Bobur Mirzo" in Altynsayskiy region of Surhandaryinskaya oblast said. – At that, our main task is further increasing of yield, entering the world market. After purchase of equipment allowing processing up to 30.000 tonnes of raw material, we started production of cognac spirit. As a result, we created 25 new work places. We have already produced products for $101.202, the main part of which we plan exporting.

The products are delivering without fail to processing enterprises and agrofirms. Nearly 10 firms are working in Altynsayskiy region. Drying-package workshops, which were created by these firms, increased the products value. The prices became moderate on the markets.

Led by the country’s head, the agro firms are exempted from the income tax, single, assessed, value added (except for value added tax for import) taxes for three years, and this resulted in further expanding of economic opportunities for the farms and enterprises.

- Exemption of the farms from taxes for three years created new possibilities for us, - Sherzod Ismoilov, the director of diversified agrofirm in Altynsayskiy region "Musallas", told. – These funds will be directed to staring of new highly yield fruit and grape varieties, equipment of our enterprise with contemporary machinery, timely and quality conduction of agro-technical measures. We make efforts to grow and process produce in compliance with requirements of the consumers and market.

Currently, we receive harvest of such grape varieties as black raisins and muscat from 70 ha. We undertake measures on yield increasing, timely processing and year-round delivery of our production to the consumers. The modern equipment allows processing 20 tonnes of grape per hour. Last year, we processed 1.140 tonnes. These days, we have started works on accepting of new crop of grapes.
