Uzbekistan 23/07/2008 KD 3.5 m loan for Uzbekistan
The Kuwaiti Amir donated US$1 million to the group overseeing the affairs of the mosque, praising its efforts in preserving Islamic heritage in Uzbekistan.
Sheikh Sabah was received at mosque by Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Kasymov, Tashkent Mayor Abdukahhar Tukhtayev, Mufti Othman Khan, and senior officials.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and Uzbekistan signed an agreement, virtue of which KFAED loans the country a sum of KD 3.5 million to finance a medical center project.

KFAED said yesterday in a press release that the agreement was signed during the visit of the Amir to Uzbekistan which began Monday.

It added that the agreement was signed by Uzbekistan’s Health Minister Feruz Nazirov and KFAED’s Chairman Abdelwahhab Al-Bader.

The project of building an advanced center for heart surgery aims to develop the economic and social development in Uzbekistan, it pointed out.

KFAED had provided three loans with a total value of KD 18.1 million to Uzbekistan to fund projects in the watering, transportation, and health sectors.
The Kuwaiti fund also provided a grant of KD 50,000 to a development fund in Uzbekistan. --- KUNA
