Ambassador said that in line with the resolution of the UN General Assembly, international community acknowledged neutral status of Turkmenistan. Council of elders of Turkmenistan adopted decision to announce 2015 as the Year of neutrality and peace.

He said that undertaking neutral state status, Turkmenistan undertake several liabilities, including not to join political, economic, military unions and blocks, refuse from weapons of mass destruction, follow common human values and ensure peace in the country.

Diplomat said that full refusal to participate in international military and military political groups and blocks allowed Turkmenistan not to be involved any conflicts in the region and the world and guaranteed its own security.

Shiri Shiriev said that Turkmenistan is for more focused and targeted interaction with the governments, international structures, engaged in solving regional problems to develop agreed approaches to solve such actual issues as terrorism, extremism, organized crime and illegal turnover of drugs.

Currently, neutral Turkmenistan gradually develops fruitful relations at inter-governmental regional and global levels, strengthening partnership within the regional and international structures as UN, EU, CIS, OSCE, OIC and others, Ambassador said.

He said that Turkmenistan is planning to hold several large scale events to mark anniversary of neutrality, prepare documentary films, forums and press conferences, etc.

Shiriev underlined that high level international conference with participation of the heads of the state, UN leadership and others will be held in Turkmenistan on 12 December 2015. High level officials of the UN and international organizations will participate large forum, he added.
