UzLiDeP nominates candidates to MPs of Legislative Chamber
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent hosted the Sixth Congress of the Movement of entrepreneurs and businesspeople – Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP) on 31 October 2014.

Some 235 delegates from all regions of Uzbekistan participated in the congress. Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyayev also attended the Congress.

The participants summed up results of the activities of the party in last five years and upcoming plans, as well as issues of preparation to upcoming parliamentary elections.

The participants approved charter of the party in new edition, pre-election platform and programme of the party.

It was underlined that priority directions of the activity of UzLiDeP is to further protection of private property, creation of favourable conditions for entrepreneurs and farmers, etc.

It was noted that Uzbekistan should increase share of small and private businesses in gross domestic product (GDP) from 55.8% to 70-80%. The party also underlined to increase share of small and private businesses in industrial output.

The party outlined plans to increase production of food products in Uzbekistan by 2.3 times by 2020. The party will continue to support and protect small and private businesses, as well as farmers.

Chairperson of the Executive Committee of Political Council of UzLiDeP Sodiqjon Turdiev said that the party won 53 seats out of 135 in 2009 elections to Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

He said that UzLiDeP will fight to win majority seats in the lower house of the parliament. He said that the Congress discussed participation of the party in parliamentary elections.

He added that the party approved pre-election programme of the party and nominated candidates to MPs of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan. The list includes 135 people.
