Elections in Uzbekistan to be held in atmosphere of transparency and openness
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- National press center for covering 2014 elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, representative bodies in the regions, districts and cities was created in Uzbekistan, the press service of the Central Election Commission said.

The corresponding decision was approved at the session of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) on 19 September, which was chaired by CEC chairperson Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov.

It was underlined that mass media is an important element in holding democratic elections. It was said that information on parties, policies of their candidates, election process should be provided to mass media and people.

National Press Center of 2014 elections will ensure transparency and openness of election campaign, as well as create necessary conditions for local and foreign journalists, as well as provide objective information.

National Press Center of 2014 elections will be located at National Press Center of Uzbekistan, located in Tashkent city.

The journalists can familiarize with the accreditation terms at the website of the CEC - www.elections.uz. The journalists, who passed accreditation, will be able to participate in briefings and press conferences of the CEC.

The session considered execution of the programme of measures on preparing and holding elections to Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, regional, district and city Councils of People’s Deputies in 2014.

The election campaign was started on 15 September 2014. The political parties started to collect signatures from 17 September 2014.
