Tashkent hosts session of Uzbekistan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan hosted a next session of Uzbekistan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.

At the session, it was noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and European Union is developing gradually in such areas as economic and public-political spheres, including parliamentarism, UzA reported.

It is worth to mention that the European Union express great interest in deepening political dialogue and developing practical cooperation with Uzbekistan in all spheres. The Uzbekistan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee was founded in 1999 to strengthen bilateral relations in parliamentarism.

The parliamentary committee established a constructive dialogue in all spheres of relations, including in economy, politics, safety, environment, healthcare and democratization of civil society. The committee helps to strengthen bilateral ties.

Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Mr. Paolo Bartolozzi said that mutual beneficial relations between the European Union and Uzbekistan are developing gradual. He said that Uzbekistan is one of leading countries in Central Asia and he highly rated gradual reforms in the country.

Paolo Bartolozzi said that the European Union is interested in further developing relations with Uzbekistan in various directions.

It was noted that wide-scale reforms in Uzbekistan helped to achieve economic growth and attract more investments.

Uzbekistan developed a draft law “On openness of activities of the state bodies and administration” and it is currently tested in two regions of the country, which attracted interest of the EU delegation.

At the session, the sides noted that it is necessary to exchange experience and establish constructive dialogue to improve efficiency of democratization and constitutional development.

The sides also considered actual issues of further boosting relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union, including in social-economic, investment, financial and legal spheres, as well as protection of environment, as well as regional and international issues.
