Number of the unemployed in Uzbekistan reaches 609,900 persons

The number of citizens registered through labor agencies as those who are looking for a job was 16,600 persons as of the end of June 2012 versus 21,200 persons as of the end of June 2011, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
In January-June 2012, the number of the unemployed defined in compliance with the “Method for calculation of unoccupied population which requires employment” approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan from 24 May 2007, No. 106, was 609,900 persons and the rate of unemployment makes 4.8% of economically active population.
