Member of the British House of Lords visits Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Member of the British House of Lords and deputy chairperson of All-Party parliamentary group “Britain-Uzbekistan”, Baroness Vivien Stern, paid a visit to Uzbekistan on 14-17 March 2012, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
British politician held meetings at the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, committees of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, Human Rights Commissioner of Oliy Majlis (Ombudsperson), and Institute for monitoring of acting legislation under the President of Uzbekistan.
The guest visited National Center for Human Rights, Independent Institute on monitoring of formation of civil society and participated at roundtable, held by the NGO Regional Dialogue.
AT the meetings, the sides discussed cooperation in protection of human rights in context of implementation of the Concept on further deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in Uzbekistan, proposed by the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in November 2010.
