Uzbekistan 19/03/2012 Czech Republic joins efforts to tackle drugs in Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A head of National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction of the Czech Republic Viktor Mravčík paid visit to Tashkent on 13-15 March 2012, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Uzbekistan said.

His negotiations in Tashkent were related to accession of the Czech partners to the fifth project of the European Union Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP). In 2011, a group experts of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, engaged in collection, analysis and publication of drug problems in the country (Drug Epidemiology Data Base Collection, DAMOS), visited Prague to exchange experience. Afghanistan is a main producer of drugs and negative occurrences, related to attempts of illegal drug distribution, hit neighboring Central Asian states.

The CADAP project is directed at creating cooperation between the states, which set international cooperation to prevent illegal drug turnover and decrease number of drug addicts in the Central Asian states.

During his visit, Viktor Mravčík met with representatives of UNAIDS to discuss issues related with spread of HIV/AIDS.
