Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Uzbekistan Abdul Aziz Bin Harun held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 7 September 2011.

The press service of Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the sides underlined mutual interest in deepening the Uzbek-Malaysian relations, in which inter-state and inter-governmental contacts play key role.

As priority directions, the sides considered development of cooperation in trade-economic and investment areas. At the same time, the sides allocated key place to the joint trade committee, founded in 2005. Despite, significant growth of trade in 2010, the sides believe that they have untapped potential.

Currently, there are over 20 joint ventures with Malaysian capital, including three with 100% Malaysian investments. They operate in such sectors as oil and gas, textile, furniture, etc.

During the meeting, the sides considered other issues of the Uzbek-Malaysian cooperation in bilateral and multilateral format.
