Greeting cordially and brotherly each other, the leaders of the two friendly states expressed satisfaction with an opportunity to exchange views on the whole spectrum of fruitful interstate cooperation in the interests of the neighbouring nations bound with age-old spiritual and historical affinities during a personal conversation.
Anticipating the official part of the conversation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Turkmenistan to his Uzbek counterpart over victims of the recent earthquake in Uzbekistan. Expressing his sincere empathy and support, the Turkmen leader emphasized that Turkmenistan was always ready to come to the aid of neighbouring Uzbekistan because the Turkmen and Uzbek people living in peace together for many millennia had always shared joy and sorrow with each other. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that these fundamental principles of brotherly support, mutual confidence and understanding underlay contemporary intergovernmental relations brought to a qualitatively new level in recent years.
Thanking for providing support and offering assistance in time of grief, the Uzbek leader Islam Karimov expressed profound gratitude to Turkmen brothers for their empathy.
During the telephone conversation initiated by the Uzbek side the leaders of the two states discussed the critical aspects of interstate cooperation successfully developed on the bi- and multi-lateral basis and some issues of international and regional politics of mutual interest.
Noting with satisfaction that the Turkmen-Uzbek dialogue had the strong foundation of good neighbourliness, centuries-old friendship and fruitful collaboration, the sides unanimously called for intensifying it in a number of key fields. Evaluating highly the progress in implementing the top level agreements, the leaders of the two states considered the prospects for building up cooperation, which had the tremendous potential.
Reaffirming that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan intended to fill the bilateral dialogue with a new content and dynamics, the sides expressed belief that equal partnerships built on a long-term, mutually beneficial basis would be continued successfully.
In conclusion President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov exchanged the hearty wishes and expressed new accomplishments on the path towards progress, peace, stability and wellbeing to the two brotherly nations.
