Uzbekistan, Latvia discuss cooperation in automobile transportation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A session of the joint Uzbek-Latvian commission on international automobile transportation was held at the Uzbek Agency for Automobile and River transport.

The Uzbek delegation was represented by officials of the Uzbek Agency for Automobile and River transport, Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Ministry of Interior Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, etc. The Latvian delegation included representatives of the Communications Ministry.

Mr. Shavahabov, deputy head of the Uzbek Agency for Automobile and River transport, expressed hope that the current meeting will be successful and lift relations to new level. Mr Lubans, representative of Latvian Communications Ministry, expressed gratitude to hospitality and shared his opinion on the Uzbek-Latvian cooperation.

During the session, the sides provided information on organization of automobile transport services in Uzbekistan and Latvia. It was noted that Uzbekistan is member of nine international conventions and one inter-departmental agreement. The agency said that Uzbekistan and Latvia signed agreement on 23 May 1996. It was said the sides are expanding the volume of transportation between two states. It was said that the growth rate made up year-on-year in 2010.

The Latvian delegation underlined that the country is the member of the European Union and its norms and legislative documents are applied in the country. It was said that Latvia creates new ferry route, which will improve transportation.
