Water Utilities Performance Benchmarking discussed in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A workshop on “Introduction to the International benchmarking Network (IBNET) for Water and Sanitation, concept and methodology of benchmarking” was held today in Tashkent.

The workshop was organized by the World Bank in cooperation with “Uzkommunkhizmat” Agency and “Uzkommunukuvtashkilotchi” training center.

The workshop brought together different stakeholders involved in the work of the water supply and sanitation sector (WSS) of Uzbekistan including the Government, regulators, consumers, utilities, international financial institutions and private investors. The workshop helped to raise awareness among the stakeholders about the IBNET, and improve understanding on concept and methodology of benchmarking.

Experiences and good practices related to benchmarking and its application in different countries to improve the efficiency of the water utilities were presented. The presentations were followed by discussion on potential benefits and opportunities of the setting up the IBNET national system in Uzbekistan for WSS utility performance monitoring and benchmarking.

The event is a part of Technical Assistance project on Municipal Governance in Uzbekistan “Improving Municipal Service Delivery through Better Customer Relationship Management”.
