Uzbekistan Airways to invest US$148.5m to development of ground infrastructure
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways), national airline of Uzbekistan, is planning to invest US$148.5 million to development of ground infrastructure in 2011-2015.

The company plans to implement 13 projects with total cost of US$179.1 million within the programme on speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction for 2011-2015.

At the same time, own resources of the Uzbek airline in total volume of attracted investments will make up US$68 million, loans of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan – US$52.5 million, foreign loans – US$5.2 million and resources of the state budget – US$22.8 million.

In particular, Uzbekistan Airways is planning to complete construction of new airport building with adjacent infrastructure in Tashkent city by the end of 2011. The capacity of the airport will be 400 passengers a day and the project cost is US$46.5 million.

In 2011, the airline will also complete construction of international passenger terminal at Bukhara Airport with the cost of US$14.7 million.

In 2014-2015, the Uzbek airline is planning to construct hangar at Tashkent airport to maintenance of two aircrafts of Boeing 787, which will be purchased in 2014-2015. The cost of the project is US$40 million.

Uzbekistan Havo Yollari will also construct centralized fuelling system at Navoi Airport in 2010-2013. The project cost is US$35 million and it is realized within the creation of international inter-modal logistic center at Navoi Airport.

By the end of 2012, the airline plans to reconstruct airport buildings at Termez Airport (cost – US$5.8 million) and passenger terminal at Navoi airport (US$5.5 million).

The company also intends to reconstruct take-off and landing strip at Andijan Airport (US$15.8 million) and Nukus Airport (US$7.7 million), as well as modernize lighting equipments at airports in Namangan, Ferghana and Termez with total cost of US$3.9 million.
