Uzbekistan Airways to open new flights in 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways), national airline of Uzbekistan, is planning to expand geography of flights in 2011, the first deputy director-general of the company Egambergen Palvanov said in interview with UzA.

Egambergen Palvanov underlined that the company will open new direct flights to Khabarovsk (Russia), Mumbai (India) and Islamabad (Pakistan).

Palvanov underlined that the airline launched regular flights from Tashkent to Madrid and Geneve and vice-versa in 2010. He said that the airline opened flight Tashkent-Kaliningrad-Tashkent. He added that issuing on launching of charter flights Tahskent- Sharm el-Sheikh-Tashkent, Tashkent-Novosibirsk- Pulj (Croatia)-Tashkent were developed.

The Uzbekistan Airways official said that the company expanded sales agents’ network and signed interline agreements with SriLankan Airlines LTD, Kenya Airways, Estonian Air, Indian Airlines. He added that the airline prolonged code sharing agreements with Air Baltic, Korean Air and Czech Airlines.

He said that the company signed agent agreements with companies in Indonesia, Kyrgyz Republic and Russia along with improving sales system.

He said that currently Uzbekistan Havo Yollari has about 200 aircrafts and helicopters, including such aircrafts as Boeing 767-300ER, Boeing -757-200, Аirbus-310, RJ-85, and IL-114-100. He added that Uzbekistan received the first Airbus-320 aircrafts and its number will reach 10 in 2011.

At the same time, Uzbekistan Havo Yollari will receive two more IL-114-100 aircrafts from Tashkent Aircraft Production Plant. Currently, the airline uses five such aircrafts. The airline also ordered four Boeing-767 aircrafts and two Boeing-787 Dreamliner. Boeing-787 Dreamliner is designed to transport 290 passengers to over 15,000 kms. He said that Boeing-787 Dreamliner can help airline to carry out flights to the United States without stopover.

Egambergan Palvanov recalled that Uzbekistan Havo Yollari conducted 23,523 flights in 2010 and transported 2.16 million passengers, which is 14.3% up year-on-year. Average passenger load per flight rose from 78 to 92 people.

The airline also increased cargo transportation. In 2010, the airline transported 50,000 tonnes of freight (+63%), and half of which fell to share of Navoi airport.
