Uzbekistan introduces excise tax to some consumer goods
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan introduces excise tax to some imported consumer goods from 1 April 2011.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On additional measures on improving customs-tariff regulation of import of some consumer goods”, which introduced excise tax to some imported consumer products.

In line with the document, Uzbekistan introduced excise tax for wheat flour at the size of 15% per unit from customs value.

The government also introduced excise tax for bananas, fresh pineapple, avocado, guava, fresh mango and mangosteen (garcinia), orange, fresh and dried mandarin (including tangerine and Citrus unshiu), Clementine and other fresh and dried citrus plants, fresh and dried grapefruit, including pomelo, fresh or dried limons, kiwi. The size of excise tax for these fruits set at 25% of customs value, but not less than US$0.15 per kilo.

The resolution said that the decision was adopted to regulating import of separate types of consumer goods and creating favourable conditions for increasing competitiveness of enterprises of flour-milling industry.
