Uzbek, Korean firms form JV to produce automobile gas containers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Companies from Uzbekistan and South Korean signed constituent documents of joint enterprise on production of automobile gas container plant at Navoi free industrial and economic zone.

Uzbekneftegaz NHC said that the document was signed by Avtogazta’minot, Uzbekhimmash Plant (Uzbekistan) and Kogas, Kolon and NK (South Korea).

The sides did not reveal details. As earlier reported, Kolon will invest US$83 million over the next four years to build 50 CNG stations across major Uzbek cities and transport hubs and a CNG auto container plant.

The programme on industrial development for 2011-2015 included project on construction of 50 GFCS in several regions of Uzbekistan with participation of KOGAS and Kolon.

The cost of the project is US$42.8 million. Korean companies will invest US$21.4 million to the project. Other part of investment will be directed by Uzbekneftegaz. The project will be implemented in 2011-2014.

By the end of 2015, Uzbekistan plans to open 352 gas filling compressor stations (GFCS), according to the Uzbek State Inspection on control over use of oil products and gas under the Cabinet of Ministers (Uzgosneftegazinspektsiya).

Currently, 135 GFCS are operating in various regions of Uzbekistan and ten new stations are under construction. According to Uzgosneftegazinspektsiya, total number of cars in Uzbekistan made up 1.634 million, while number of cars, consuming liquefied gas, makes up 7% (114,100 cars) and compressed gas – 8% (129,200 cars).
