India business circles pay visit to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Indian business circles led by vice president of Shyam Telecom (telecommunication equipment) Abhidjit Nat is paying visit to Uzbekistan on 17-18 March 2011.

The visit is aimed at developing trade-economic cooperation between the Uzbek and Indian businesses, establishing direct mutual beneficial contacts with the Uzbek entrepreneurs, discussing opportunities of bilateral cooperation.

Within the visit, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan organized an Uzbek-Indian business meeting in Tashkent on 17 March 2011.

The chamber said that the Indian delegation included representatives of six companies, operating in construction materials, production of welding equipment, steel, coal, export and consulting services in automobile industry, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, etc.

India is one leading economic partners of Uzbekistan, the chamber noted. The countries set the most favourable trade regime in line with the agreement on trade and economic cooperation.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek-Indian trade turnover in 2010 grew by 21.1% year-on-year to US$151 million. Uzbekistan’s exports reached US$27.2 million and imports – US$123.5 million.

Currently, eighteen Indian companies and organizations, working in production and pharmaceutical sectors, are accredited in Uzbekistan. There are also 62 enterprises with Indian capital, including eleven with 100% Indian investment. These enterprises produce consumer goods, medicaments, textile products, washing means, processing leather and agriculture products.
