Korea’s Government Legislation Minister Nam Ki-myoung will visit Uzbekistan Sept. 21-24 in his capacity as a special envoy of President Roh Moo-hyun, ministry officials said Monday (17 September).
In Tashkent, the Uzbek capital, Nam will attend a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the resettlement of Koreans in Central Asia, said the officials.
Nam will also meet with Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov and some Uzbek ministers to discuss ways to widen bilateral cooperation in energy development, in particular, and improve the welfare of ethnic Koreans living in the Central Asian country.
Prior to arrival in Uzbekistan, Nam will have a stopover in Moscow on Thursday (Sept. 20) to meet with his Russian counterpart, said the officials.
