Uzbekistan’s agriculture output makes up 11.182 trln soums in Jan-Sep

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The agriculture output of Uzbekistan reached 11.182 trillion soums in January-September 2010 (+7.8% year-on-year), of which 6.319 trillion soums fell to share of output of plant-growing (+9.4%) and 4.863 trillion soums - animal husbandry (6%).

Plant-growing

The share of plant-growing in total volume of agriculture output made up 56.5% in January-September 2010.

According to the preliminary data as of 1 October 2010, total sown area of agricultural crops for the yield of the current year in farms of all types was 3.687 million hectares, which is up by 130,300 hectares year-on-year.

The area under grains was 1.672 million hectares (73,400 hectares more than in 2009), cotton – 1.341 million hectares (3,000 hectares less), potatoes - 70,400 hectares (11,000 hectares more), vegetables – 171,000 hectares (15,200 hectares more), forage crops – 313,900 hectares (30,000 hectares more).

Harvesting

As of 1 October 2010, farms of all types produced 7.164 million tonnes of grains (1,3% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year), including 6897,3 thousand tonnes of spiked cereal of which 6696,2 thousand tonnes are wheat.

In the structure of grain production the biggest share falls on wheat - 93,5%, corn for grain – 2,5%, rice – 0,7% and other grains – 3,3%.

The production of potatoes was 1238,5 thousand tonnes, vegetables – 4386,8 thousand tonnes, melons and gourds – 856,4 thousand tonnes, fruit and berries – 1139,1 thousand tonnes, grapes – 645,7 thousand tonnes.

Animal husbandry

In the total volume of agriculture output the share of animal husbandry made up 43.5% in January-September 2010.

As of 1 October 2010, the number of cattle increased by 572,800 heads (+6.9% year-on-year), including cows – by 194,400 heads (+5.6% year-on-year), sheep and goats - by 830,700 heads (+5.8% year-on-year), poultry - by 5.436 million heads (+18.2%).

Private farms

The volume of agricultural goods produced by private farms in January-September 2010 was 3.856 trillion soums, which is up 16% year-on-year.

As of 1 October 2010, the private farms had 495,400 heads of cattle, including 169,500 heads of cows, 1.141 million heads of sheep and goats, and 4.08 million heads of poultry.

In comparison with January-September 2009, the number of cattle increased by 17,600 (+3.7% year-on-year), cows – by 5,700 (+3.5% year-on-year), sheep and goats – by 73,300 (+6.9% year-on-year), poultry – by 1.031 million (+3.8% year-on-year).

Silkworm breeding

In January-September 2010, the total volume of silkworm cocoon production in farms of all types made 25,151.8 tonnes, which is 1,179.2 tonnes (or 4.9%) more year-on-year.

In the total volume of produced silkworm cocoons 10,2 tonnes were elite grade, 222.6 tonnes - seed cocoons, 9,454.5 tonnes – cocoons of first grade, 6,870.0 tonnes – cocoons of second grade, 941.1 tonnes – nonstandard cocoons, 5,279.2 tonnes – off-grade cocoons, and 2,373.7 tonnes - karapachak.
