Uzbekistan, Germany consider trade-economic, investment cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Issues of further developing trade-economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany were discussed within the forum “The Day of German Economy” in Tashkent.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Office of German Economy in Central Asia and Club of German Economy in Uzbekistan.

Representatives of ministries an departments, companies and firms from Uzbekistan and Germany, operating in such spheres as foreign economic relations, investments, insurance, fuel-energy, banking-finance, machinery, agriculture, high technology, etc.

The German delegation received information on priority directions of attracting investments into economy of Uzbekistan. The German guests also familiarized with privatization process, economic reforms, development of small and private businesses, opportunities in Navoi free industrial and economic zone.

The forum participants considered expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two states, including in oil and gas, machinery building, electronics, banking and finance, IT, attracting German companies to privatization process in Uzbekistan.

Germany is one largest investors into the Uzbek economy. A number of investment projects worth over 1 billion have been implemented in Uzbekistan with participation of German partners.

Currently, 129 joint ventures set up with German investments and almost 60 representative offices of German companies currently operate in Uzbekistan.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Germany made up US$338.6 million in January-August 2010.
