Economy of Syrdarya region grows by 11.5% in Jan-Sep
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Gross regional product of Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan increased by 11.5% in nine months of 2010.

The region recorded 11.3% growth of industrial output and 3.7% growth of consumer goods production in January-September 2010. The growth of agriculture output made up 3.7%.

The volume of construction works rose by 35.2% year-on-year, retail trade turnover by 23.3% year-on-year, and paid services by 8.9% year-on-year. The region exported goods and services for US$75.5 million in nine months of 2010.

The region implemented 52 projects on modernization and re-equipment and attracted investments for 19.6 billion soums and US$29.4 million respectively. Two projects with foreign investments were implemented.

The projects for 54.1 billion soums on increasing economic potential of industry and financial rehabilitation of insolvent enterprises were realized and some US$29.4 million of investments were attracted.

In line with the regional programme, some 31,300 new jobs were created in Syrdarya region, of which main part fell to share of rural area.

Seven enterprises on production of construction materials were commissioned in Uzbekistan. They produce tiling, lime, ferroconcrete items, burnt bricks and marble processing.
