Union Cement Group launches cement plant in Yangiyul
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Union Cement Group, a transnational holding company, commissioned cement plant in Yangiyul, Tashkent region, with the annual capacity of 1 million tonnes.

Cement milling station (CMS) in Yangiyul is a branch of Bekabadcement open joint stock company, the information-analytical branch of the Uzbek Commodity Cement (UZEX) said. The plant locates about 25 km from Tashkent and it will produce 3,300 tonnes of cement of PS-400 D-20 mark. The cement will be produced through milling and mixing clinker, active mineral additions and other cement raw materials.

Unlike cement plants of full circle production, the CMS does not envisage mining and production of clinker. The CMS will receive raw materials from Bekabadcement OJSC and mix it with other components and grind mixture to desired fraction.

At the same time, the CMS is full cement plant with the annual capacity of 1 million tonnes of high quality cement a year. China CAMC Engineering Co Ltd. Supplied equipment and carried out assembly works. The construction and assembly works were conducted by the Uzbek company Parma Servis, which have great experience in construction of industrial objects in Uzbekistan and foreign countries. Total cost of the project is not disclosed.

Union Cement Group currently units seven cement plants in Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, including Quvasaycement and Bekabadcement. The Yangiyul CMS also entered to the transnational cement holding. Evgeniy Pulyayev, director of Yangiyul CMS, said: “We are planning to gain 50% of Tashkent city’s cement market. Beneficial geographic location of the plant and developed transport infrastructure will help this. The plant is located near Tashkent-Samarkand-Bukhara highway. The plant also plans to significant market shares in Samarkand, Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions.”

Pulyayev said that the plant plans to export part of the cement. The plant will offer market packed cement (about 35%) and bulk cement (65%). The company plans to purchase 10 automobile cement carriers in 2011 to expand offered services. In Tashkent, the cement of Yangiyul CMS will be traded on wholesale prices.

According to the Uzbekistan State Statistics Committee, the cement production in Uzbekistan grew by 3.1% and exceeded 6.8 million tonnes, which helped to support high rate of construction works. Enterprises of the cement industry produced construction materials for over 1.3 trillion soums with the growth rate of 108.7%.

Currently, largest cement plants in Uzbekistan are Qyzylqumcement (3.1 million tonnes), Ahangarancement (1.74 million tonnes) and Quvasoycement (920,000 tonnes). About 72% of all volume of goods in construction industry of Uzbekistan fell to share of cement industry.

In 2009, internal demand to cement in Uzbekistan exceeded 5.5 million tonnes. According to UZEX specialists, the figure will increase to 5.7 million tonnes by the end of 2010. In perspective, internal demand for cement in Uzbekistan will reach 8-8.5 million tonnes by 2012. Taking into account development of infrastructure, industrial and social objects in Uzbekistan, total annual demand is forecasted at 12 million tonnes by that time.

In 2010-2012, Uzbekistan is planning to create additional plants on cement production with annul production capacities for 6 million tonnes in various regions of the country. Uzbekistan’s cement industry is also actively participating in implementation of the programme on habitation construction in rural areas.

In 2009, the cement industry of Uzbekistan exported products for over 1.3 million tonnes. One of the main Uzbek cement consumers are Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
