Uzbekistan’s agriculture output makes up 6.081 trln soums in 1H 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In January-June 2010 the agricultural output of Uzbekistan made up 6.081 trillion soums, which is up 6.9% year-on-year. Output of plant growing comprised 3.334 trillion soums (+7.1%) and animal husbandry – 2.746 trillion soums (+6.7%).

Plant growing

In the total volume of agricultural output of Uzbekistan, the share of plant growing was 54.8% in January-June 2010.

According to the preliminary data as of 1 July 2010, the total sown area of agricultural crops for the yield of the current year in farms of all types was 3.687 million hectares, which is 130,200 hectares more than for the yield of 2009.

Uzbekistan allocated 1.671 million hectares of area under grains (73,400 hectares more than in 2009), 1.341 million hectares under cotton (3,000 hectares less), 70,400 hectares under potatoes (11,000 hectares more), 171,000 hectares under vegetables (15,200 hectares more), 313,900 hectares under forage crops (29,900 hectares more).

Harvesting

As of 1 July 2010, farms of all types produced 5.584 million tonnes of grains, including 5.576 million tonnes of spiked cereal, of which 5.444 million tonnes are wheat.

In comparison with the corresponding period of 2009, the grain production growth was marked in farms of the Republic of Kakalpakstan (by 38.6%), Syrdarya region (by 20%), Kashkadarya region (by 10.4%), Navoi region and Jizzakh region (by 4.7% per each), Tashkent region (by 4.3%), Samarkand region (by 3.6%), Ferghana region (by 3.2%).

In the reporting period the production of potatoes was 778,700 tonnes, vegetables – 1.464 million tonnes, melons and gourds – 95,900 tonnes, fruit and berries – 519,200 tonnes, grapes – 13,700 tonnes.

Animal husbandry

In the total volume of agricultural output, the share of animal husbandry was 45.2% in January-June 2010.

As of 1 July 2010, the population of cattle increased by 542,500 heads (by 6.7%), including cows – by 202,000 heads (5.9%), sheep and goats - by 836,300 heads (5.8%), poultry - by 4.010 million heads (13.6%).

In January-June 2010, farms of all types produced 681,100 tonnes of meat in living weight (6.7% more year-on-year), 2.809 million tonnes of milk (6.9%), 1.43 billion eggs (15.3%), 13,800 tonnes of wool (5.6%), 824,100 pieces of karakul (3.9%), 25,200 tonnes of silkworm cocoons (5%).

The production of animal products (meat, milk, eggs) in all regions has mainly increased at the expense of dekhkan and private farms. The share of dekhkan farms in total production of meat was 95.3%, milk – 96.4%, and eggs – 55.3%.

Private farms

Private farms of Uzbekistan produced agriculture goods for1.596 trillion soums in January-June 2010 or up 7.6% year-on-year.

In comparison with the corresponding period of the previous year, as of 1 July 2010, the number of cattle has increased by 19,200 heads (by 4.1%), including cows – by 5,500 (by 3.4%), sheep and goats – by 115,600 (by 10.7%), poultry – by 923,500 (by 31.5%).

Silkworm breeding

As of 1 July 2010, 25,159.5 tonnes of silkworm cocoons were produced (up 5% year-on-year), of which 0,5 tonnes are of prime quality, 10,2 tonnes - grade elite, 222,6 tonnes - seed cocoons, 9,476.7 tonnes - first grade, 6,890.9 tonnes – second grade, 940,7 tonnes – nonstandard, 5,264.1 tonnes – off-quality, 2,353.8 tonnes - karapachak.
