Kyrgyz refugees returned home voluntarily – Uzbek FM
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Refugees, accepted by Uzbekistan after violence in southern regions of Kyrgyzstan, returned to their homes voluntarily, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said in a statement.

Over 100,000 people, fled violence, massacre and burning, carried out by bandits, escaped to Uzbekistan.

The Government of Uzbekistan opened its borders to peaceful population and rendered necessary conditions for them in the territory of the country, the statement said.

After stabilization of situation in southern Kyrgyzstan, refugees started to return homes. The ministry said that 96% of refugees were women and children, husbands and parents of them were staying in Kyrgyzstan. They were in touch with their relatives and communicated with help of mobile phones. The ministry said the relatives of the refugees call their wives and children to come back.

During stay in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz refugees gave birth to 175 children and their mothers wanted to joint their families and relatives.

Currently, almost all refugees of Kyrgyzstan returned to their country. At the same time, 96 people are staying at hospitals of Andijan, Ferghana and Namangan regions.

The statement said that the decision of refugees on return to home was accepted on voluntary base and security guarantees of Kyrgyz officials also contributed to it.
