In the 105th minute, Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty as Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak made the save.
In the closing moments of the second extra time, Slovenia had a chance to win, but Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved his team.
After goalless extra time, the teams moved on to a penalty shootout.
Diogo Costa saved all three of Slovenia’s penalty attempts. For Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, and Bernardo Silva successfully scored.
