Population of Uzbekistan grow by 1.2% in Jan-Sep
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of permanent population of Uzbekistan grew by 467,400 or 1.7% to 27.869 million as of 1 October 2009.

Natural growth of population in Uzbekistan made up 372,700, about 214,200 of them fell to rural area, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said.

Number of births in January-September 2009 comprised 472,800 people and decreased by 19,200 or 3.9% year-on-year. Coefficient of birth fell from 24% to 22.7% pro mil.

Decrease of birth rate in Namangan region (from 25 to 22.1 pro mil), Andijan region (from 25.7 to 23.5 pro mil), Syrdarya region (from 25.5 to 23.5 pro mil), Surkandarya region (from 26.3 to 24.2 pro mil) and Samarkand region (from 26.1 to 23.3 pro mil) was observed.

Death rate dropped in all regions of Uzbekistan, except Syrdarya region. The death rate in Tashkent region (from 6.2 to 5.8 pro mil), Andijan region (from 5.2 to 4.8 pro mil), Namangan region (from 4.7 to 4.3 pro mil) and Khorezm region (from 4.8 to 4.4 pro mil) decreased. Death rate in Tashkent city remained high 7 pro mil.

About 59.1% of deaths fell to share of cardiovascular diseases, 7.5% - neoplasms, 6.4% - accidents, poisonings and traumas, and 6.3% - respiratory diseases.

According to the preliminary data, in January-September 2009, 5,600 children died at the age under one year. The infant mortality rate decreased from 12.9 pro mil in January-September 2008 to 11.9 pro mil in January-September 2009.

Out of the total number of children died at the age under one year, 33.6% died of respiratory diseases, 49% - states occurring in perinatal period, 7% - congenital anomalies and 3.4% - infectious and parasitic diseases.

In the reporting period, 175,300 marriages and 12,700 divorces were registered. There were 8.4 marriages and 0.6 divorces per 1000 population.
