Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva, within the framework of the Asian Women’s Forum, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong.

During the dialogue, practical aspects of cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Inter-Parliamentary Union were discussed. In particular, an exchange of views took place on the organizational procedures of the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held next year in Uzbekistan.

It was especially noted that the Assembly will become an important platform for the exchange of experience between parliaments on current issues on the international agenda, familiarization with the activities of the Parliament of Uzbekistan, enhancing the participation of parliaments in the implementation of the Strategy until 2030 and discussing directions for achieving the SDGs.

It was also emphasized that the Assembly held in the country would strengthen cooperation between parliaments in the field of human rights, gender equality, youth empowerment and combating climate change.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further intensify all areas of cooperation.
