In addition, the fact that Samarkand is the capital of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2023 and is hosting the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly indicates that Samarkand’s international prestige continues to grow.
It is worth noting that such outstanding scientists of the Muslim world as Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Moturidi, Makhdumi Azam lived and worked on the territory of the Samarkand region, whose temple complexes play an important role in the development of pilgrimage tourism.
In order to develop bilateral relations in the field of pilgrimage tourism, a group of representatives of the Samarkand region is currently negotiating in Malaysia to organize special pilgrimage trips to Uzbekistan.
