Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the 54th plenary session of the Senate, the Law “On amendments and additions to the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Plant Quarantine” in connection with the easing of phytosanitary requirements was discussed.
The Law abolishes the requirement for a phytosanitary certificate or certificate from the exporting country for the import of quarantine products that, according to international practice, do not require a phytosanitary certificate or certificate.
Additionally, the Law stipulates the allowance of imports of quarantine products from foreign countries with the issuance of a quarantine permit by the Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection for each batch of quarantine products.
These amendments and additions to the Law simplify the rules of plant quarantine and phytosanitary requirements.
Senators noted that these innovations ensure price stability for basic products in domestic markets and create opportunities for business entities to import products with high consumer demand, which is compensated by imports.
After the discussions, the Law was approved by the senators.
