Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An opening ceremony of the exhibition of the Uzbek photographer, member of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan Husniddin Ato, entitled "Uzbekistan - the destination on the Silk Road", organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in conjunction with the Duma of the city of Riga, was held at the Riga Congress House.
The guests of the event were representatives of socio-political, business, cultural and humanitarian circles and the media of Latvia, as well as Uzbek students studying in this country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Husniddin Ato emphasized that in his works he seeks to “demonstrate the ancient history, rich culture, developed art, people and the life of hospitable Uzbekistan”. He also said: “I hope that the photo illustrations that you will see today will inspire you to visit Uzbekistan if you have not been to our region, and will also awaken good memories from those who have already visited our country.”
The head of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Riga City Council, Baiba Shmita, welcoming the audience, noted the fruitful nature of cooperation between the twin cities of Riga and Tashkent in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
According to her, this exhibition is a contribution to strengthening intercultural relations and mutual understanding between two friendly peoples. She also mentioned that in May 2019, a photo exhibition of Husniddin Ato about the Latvian festival “Song and Dance Festival” was organized in Tashkent.
The expositions of more than 60 photo illustrations presented at the exhibition aroused great interest among visitors. They had the opportunity to get acquainted not only with the original culture and traditions of the Uzbek people, but also with the tourism potential, world-famous historical and cultural attractions and the rich heritage of our country.
The photo exhibition will be launched until 15 November 2019.
