Petronas receives commercial gas inflow at Gadjak depsit
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Petronas of Malaysia received commercial inflow of natural gas at the first exploitation well at Gadjak deposit in Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, Uzbekneftegaz national holding company said.

The Uzbek firm said the inflow was received at No. 45 well. Exploration works at Baisun investment block revealed several perspective oil and gas deposits. Gadjak deposit is one of them. Drilling and deep exploration works resulted in significant commercial gas inflow.

The works were carried out in line with agreement between Petronas and Uzbekneftgaz on joint exploration of Baisun investment block with total cost of US$80 million.

Petronas signed a production-sharing agreement (PSA) for the Baisun Block in the Surkhandarya region in December 2008. Under the agreement, the agreement expected to enter into force in the end of the first half of 2008 and Malaysian company’s subsidiary Petronas Carigali Overseas Sdn. Bhd hold a 100% equity stake and operate the block.
