Persons who have committed violence against minors are not subject to parole

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Law "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with further improvement of the system of reliable protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of women and children" signed by the President of Uzbekistan.

The following amendments and additions were made to the Criminal Code:

There is no mitigation of punishment for unfinished crimes, as well as attempted crimes related to the circulation of pornographic products with a description or image of a minor, pandering, organizing dens of debauchery involving a minor.

Conditional early release from punishment shall not apply to persons who have committed the following crimes:

associated with the rape of a victim under the age of 18 and coercion to have sexual intercourse;

sexual intercourse or committing indecent acts against a person under the age of 16;

related to the circulation of pornographic products with a description or image of a minor;

associated with pandering, organizing dens of debauchery with the involvement of a minor.

Responsibility for forcing a woman to have an abortion has been toughened, for this crime a fine of 100 to 200 sizes of basic estimated value or deprivation of certain rights from 3 to 5 years, or compulsory community service from 300 to 360 hours, or correctional labor from 2 to 3 years.

Previously, a fine of up to 50 sizes of basic estimated value or compulsory public works up to 300 hours or correctional labor up to 2 years was provided.

It has been established that liability for rape, as well as satisfaction of sexual desire in an unnatural form with the use of violence, is punishable by imprisonment from 5 to 8 years. Previously, this period was from 3 to 7 years.

It is also provided that the fact of committing these crimes against persons with disabilities, a former spouse (ex-spouse), a person living together on the basis of a single household, or a person having a common child, as well as committed by an employee of an educational, educational, medical or other institution, who is charged with the duty to look after the victim, is recognized as an aggravating circumstance of the crime.
