Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The government of Uzbekistan plans to attract international online payment systems, such as PayPal, Alipay, UniPay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, to the country.
This initiative is outlined in a resolution from the government of Uzbekistan “On Additional Measures Related to the Introduction of New Types of Tourism and Effective Utilization of the Tourist Potential of Our Country.”
According to the document, the government has instructed the Central Bank, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, and the Committee for Tourism to conduct negotiations with PayPal, Alipay, UniPay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay regarding their integration with payment systems and banking services in Uzbekistan.
If necessary, state authorities may propose amendments to the national legislation requirements.
The negotiations with the payment systems are to be completed by the end of 2024, as specified in the decree.
This decision aims to create comfortable conditions for tourists and to digitalize the transport and logistics sector as well as business processes in the country.
