Payment by NFC technology: HUMOPay service launched in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The National Interbank Processing Center (NIPC) has launched the HUMOPay contactless payment technology. To use the payment service, the smartphone must support NFC technology and run on the Android operating system. Today the service is available in the Apelsin app. In the near future, the service will be available in the applications of other banks.

“We planned to launch the system back in the spring, but were forced to shift plans due to circumstances beyond our control. I am very glad that this fall we managed to launch the long-awaited HUMOPay for the market. The technology allows you to use your phone to pay without having to carry your card with you. It does not require the Internet to work (only once when the card is linked), so you can pay even on the metro. The terminal sees it as a regular card. We are confident that users will appreciate how quickly, conveniently and securely they can make payments using HUMOPay,” commented Kurbanov Shukhratbek, director of the NIPC.

When paying with a smartphone, the users do not need to enter a PIN, because protection is carried out by means of the phone itself. The users can confirm the payment with your fingerprint, or with a specially invented PIN-code, which may differ from the password of the card itself.

To use the technology, the users need to download (or update to the latest version) the Apelsin application and link your card to your phone. Moreover, the HUMO card can be opened in any bank. In the coming days, it will be possible to pay in this way through the applications of other banks, because HUMOPay is available to every member of the HUMO payment system, as well as payment services.
