Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tel Aviv, an online meeting was held with the participation of members of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Israeli Knesset, Dunyo news agency reported.

The delegations were headed by the Chairman of the Committee on Innovative Development, Information Policy and Information Technologies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Ilkhom Abdullayev, Chairman of the Uzbekistan-Israel Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Group and Head of the Israel-Uzbekistan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Knesset Tatyana Mazarsky.

The parties discussed the essence of the large-scale democratic reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, including the Constitutional reform, as well as the agenda of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The Israeli side expressed the opinion that the constitutional reform in Uzbekistan is an integral part of the fundamental changes carried out in all spheres of the country’s life. Uzbekistan is a vivid example of how government bodies, based on democratic principles, in cooperation with the mahalla - a social structure that embodies national and universal values, creates a system of power that meets modern requirements.

As a result of the negotiations, agreements were reached on intensifying the exchange of parliamentary delegations, as well as considering the participation of an international observer from Israel in a national referendum on the draft Constitutional Law, which will be held in Uzbekistan on 30 April.
