Pakistan, Uzbekistan to enhance cooperation to curb drug smuggling, terrorism
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Pakistan and Uzbekistan Tuesday agreed on enhancing cooperation in counter-terrorism and ensuring strict control on drug trafficking. The decision was taken in a meeting held between Prime Minister Syed Yusaf Raza Gillani and Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoev Miromonovich, as the two leaders arrived in the Chinese capital on 13 October to attend the 8th summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan that already share an agreement on intelligence sharing, called for enhancing collaboration in this field to ensure peace in the region.

Both the leaders agreed to jointly work for regional and international peace.

Prime Minister Gilani said Pakistan wanted to improve relations with Uzbekistan particularly in trade and economic fields.

He said the delegation of Pakistan’s Chamber of Commerce will soon visit Uzbekistan’s Board of Investment to discuss ways and means to strengthen trade ties.

The two sides agreed on the exchange of parliamentary delegations to improve people-to-people contacts.

Both the leaders were unanimous on the view that tourism and trade could prove mutual to the relationship between the two countries.
