Over 792.9m tonnes of cargoes transported in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
All types of transports in Uzbekistan transported 792.9 million tonnes of cargoes in January-September 2009, which is up 13.2% year-on-year. At the same time, cargo turnover fell by 9% to 55.8 billion tonnes-km.
Motor transport carried out 703.5 million tonnes of cargo in January-September, or grew by 17.5% year-on-year. Freight turnover rose by 9.5% year-on-year to 16.5 billion tonnes-km.
Cargo turnover of motor transport of individual entrepreneurs increased by 6.3% to 11.5 billion tonnes-km.
Share of private cargo transporters in total turnover of motor transport comprised 69.7% in January-September 2009 against 71.8% in the same period of 2008.
About 10,700 tonnes of cargo were transported via air transport in nine months of 2009, which is 2.3 times less compared to the same period of 2008.
The freight turnover of main pipelines has decreased by 26.8% and was 21.4 billion tonnes-km.
