Markets 17/08/2007 Over 73.5m shares traded at Uzbek Stock Exchange
The aggregate volume of trades conducted at Uzbek Stock Exchange since the beginning of 2007 has reached 50.37 billion soums. In total, 4,339 deals were recorded, in which over 73.56 million shares of 331 issuing companies were traded.

In the reporting period, the structure of the stock exchange turnover, in terms of the shares of individual trading platforms, appeared as follows (in billions of Uzbek soums):

• Secondary market (platform for deals in national currency) – 30.022 (60%)

• Secondary market (platform for deals in hard currency) – 10.742 (21%)

• IPO (public placement by issuing companies) – 7.769 (15%)

• IPO (initial placement on behalf of the State Property Committee) – 1.838 (4%)

Since the beginning of the year, the total of 495,591 shares of 16 joint stock companies formerly owned by the state were sold at the exchange on behalf of the State Property Committee for 1838.123 million soums.

The platform for the sale of shares for national currency (soums) recorded 3,619 deals on 67,749,307 shares of 311 companies. The shares were traded for the total of 39.63 billion soums.

The platform for the sale of shares for hard currency recorded 719 deals, in which more than 5.81 million shares of 44 companies were sold for some US$8.565 million (10.74 billion soums according to the exchange rate quoted by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan).

The trade platform for bonds recorded only two deals on the bonds issued by Chorsu Savdo Markazi (the issuer redeemed the earlier distributed bonds). In total the deal involved 501,000 bonds redeemed for 501 million soums.

Of all regions that participated in the exchange trading, Tashkent city was the most active – 67% of all deals since the beginning of the year (33.6 billion soums). It is followed by Tashkent region – 6.3% (3.18 billion soums) and Andijan region – 5.7% (2.88 billion soums).

The banking sector continues to hold the leading position in the structure of the exchange turnover (billion soums):

Banks – 23.047 (46%)

Agro-industrial complex – 8.751 (17%)

Industry – 7.05 (14%)

Construction, transportation, communication – 4.19 (8.3%)

Social sphere – 0.575 (1.1%)

Other – 6.758 (13%).
