Over 70 enterprises receive 4.6 billion soums to register products on Alibaba

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan provided financial support in the amount of 4.6 billion soums to 70 local exporting enterprises to register their products on the Alibaba marketplace.

Uzbekistan entered the Alibaba global trading platform by opening its pavilion on this platform.

A cooperation agreement was signed between the Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Alibaba Group Corporation. The goal is to establish the export of national products on the giant Chinese electronic trading platform.

Among the CIS countries, the pavilion of Uzbekistan on the Alibaba.com site became the third after Russia and Kazakhstan. The national pavilion of Uzbekistan includes over 50 domestic companies with more than 4800 types of goods.

As part of the agreement, the Agency provided financial support in the amount of 4.6 billion soums to 70 local exporting enterprises to register their products on the Alibaba marketplace.

Among the enterprises are producers of fresh and dried fruits and vegetables, finished textile and other products, companies providing tourism services. More than 100 items of products of 3 main industries - textile, agricultural, food industries are placed on the pavilion of Uzbekistan. To date, enterprises have already exported products worth US$67.1 million. By the end of 2022, it is planned to increase their number to 100.

By the end of the year, it is planned to open new industry sections in the pavilion for electrical engineering, furniture and fittings, leather and footwear products, sports goods, and children’s toys. As a result, the number of export-oriented trade names will be increased to 300.

The pavilion is regularly replenished and updated with goods from Uzbekistan, while the most popular and high-quality domestic goods are automatically selected and placed by ranking based on sales volume, customer ratings and comments using artificial intelligence.

The Export Promotion Agency under the MIFT continues to promote this direction on a systematic basis. On 8-15 October, in Tashkent, together with the Alibaba Group corporation, it is planned to hold an e-commerce forum, seminars and trainings for entrepreneurs, as well as master classes and individual consultations for exporters experiencing difficulties with exporting on the trading platform, which will be attended by 5 leading experts of the Alibaba Group corporation. It is expected that the event will be the largest in terms of coverage not only in Central Asia, but also among the CIS countries.
