Over 481m tonnes of cargoes transported in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Over 481 million tonnes of cargoes were transported by all types of transport in Uzbekistan in January-June 2009. The growth rate made up 8.9% year-on-year.
The freight turnover has decreased by 8.1% and was 35.9 billion t-km. About 417.5 million tonnes of freights were carried by motor transport, which is up 12% year-on-year. The freight turnover has increased by 7.4% and was 9.5 billion t-km.
The freight turnover of motor transport of individual entrepreneurs has exceeded the level of January-June 2008 by 5.6% and was 6.5 billion t-km. The share of private carriers in total freight turnover of motor transport was 69.2% versus 70.4% in January-June 2008.
About 4,900 tonnes of freights were carried by air transport, which grew by 75% year-on-year. The freight turnover has decreased by 28.7% to 32.6 million t-km.
The freight turnover of main pipelines fell by 23.4% to 14.6 billion t-km, the committee said.
