Over 3,000 delegates to attend ADB meeting in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 3,000 delegates will participate at the 43rd Annual Meeting to be held 1-4 May 2010 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. It will be the first time a member country from Central Asia will host the event.

The Annual Meeting will be held at Tashkent’s Uzexpocentre Complex and it will be attended by government leaders, central bank governors and finance ministers, as well as representatives from the private sector, academe, media and civil society groups from around the world.

The meetings provide an opportunity for ADB member country officials and leading figures from the public and private sectors, along with representatives from civil society, to hold formal and informal consultations that help shape economic, financial and social policies and programs in Asia and the Pacific.

The participants will also discus such issues as development of Asian countries, post crisis agenda, climate change and other. Several countries, including Uzbekistan, will hold presentation of their countries.

ADB is an international development finance institution whose mission is to help its developing member countries reduce poverty and improve the quality of life of their people. Headquartered in Manila, and established in 1966, ADB is owned and financed by its 67 members, of which 48 are from the region and 19 are from other parts of the globe.

Uzbekistan joined ADB in August 1995. During the period, the bank allocated 25 loans for US$1 billion.
