Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Residents of Uzbekistan, foreign guests and tourists have the opportunity to withdraw funds in national currency from international Visa cards.

HUMO ATMs installed in Tashkent, Bukhara, Khiva, Samarkand and other cities of Uzbekistan will serve guests 24/7.

The National Interbank Processing Center (NMPC), together with the banks of Uzbekistan, introduced the ability to withdraw funds in national currency at the rate set by the international payment system Visa. Now, holders of international Visa cards do not have to look for the nearest bank: you just need to find an ATM with the HUMO and Visa logos near your hotel or tourist destination.

“Undoubtedly, this initiative serves as a support for the development of tourism in Uzbekistan. The national payment system HUMO and the global payment technology company Visa have successfully completed technical work on accepting Visa cards at more than 250 ATMs in the country, and their number is growing every day,” Kurbanov Shukhratbek, director of the NMPC, said.

The foundation of the strategic partnership between Visa and HUMO was laid in May this year, when the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Visa signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation aimed at joint implementation of programs for the development of digital payment infrastructure in Uzbekistan. This initiative is the first step in the work of the parties to expand the network of electronic payments in the country.

“Visa is glad to cooperate with HUMO and the launch of Visa cards in the ATM network is the first step in building partnerships with the aim of developing cashless payments in Uzbekistan, for the benefit of the people of Uzbekistan and for the convenience of the country’s guests,” Aliya Chynybayeva, Visa General Manager in Central Of Asia, said.

The fee for issuing cash in national currency from an ATM is set by the bank itself. In tourist cities, HUMO ATMs with the option of withdrawing money in national currency are located 24/7 near major attractions, hotels, markets, etc.
