Over 22,800 small businesses created in Uzbekistan in 1H 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 22,800 small businesses have been registered in Uzbekistan in the first half of 2011. This was announced at the joint session of Senate and Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on 15 July 2011.

During the session, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyayev presented a report “On programme of measures, adopted by the government on further deepening democratic market reforms and liberalization of economy, as well as execution of the state programme “The Year of small business and private entrepreneurship”.

The session noted that small businesses of Uzbekistan created over 331,200 new jobs in the first six months of 2011.

The volume of industrial production of small businesses grew by 20.4% in the first half of 2011, while the volume of exported and realized own products through exchange trades – 1.5 times.

In the first half of 2011, the volume of loans, issued by commercial banks to enterprises of real sector of economy, grew by 38%, including to small and private businesses – 1.5 times.

In the second quarter of 2011, the volume of state procurements from small businesses made up 44.6 billion soums or 89% of total purchases through electronic trades.

During the open dialogue and constructive exchange of opinion, Senators and MPs expressed several remarks and proposals for further developing efficiency of work of the government and state bodies, directed at implementing tasks on deepening market reforms, developing small businesses and private entrepreneurship.

It was underlined that it is necessary to implement resolutions and decisions of the President of Uzbekistan on further decreasing inspections and improving system on control over activities of small and private businesses, preventing illegal infringement to their activities, simplifying procedures of organization and doing business, expanding participation of small businesses in public purchases system and their access to high-liquid products.

It was noted that it is necessary to continue systematic work on improving consumer demand as important factor for ensuring stable growth of economy, transferring small and private businesses t main source of increasing income and well-being f population, as well as implementation of anti-crisis programme, etc.

Special attention was directed at strengthening work of the government to full implementation of forecast indicators of the Programme on creation of jobs and ensuring employment of population for 2011, solving issues related to employment of graduates of colleges.

The session underlined that it is necessary to improve efficiency of law making and control-analytical activity of parliament, improve law enforcement, etc.

During the session, it was said that participation of businesses, scholars, experts and NGOs at hearing of the government report became another step to ensuring openness and transparency of state bodies and raising their responsibility for adopted decisions.

After the discussion of the report, the Senate and Legislative Chamber adopted a joint resolution, which envisages complex of measures directed at deepening democratic market reforms and liberalization of economy, as well as the state programme “The Year of small business and private entrepreneurship”.
